Interviews

David: What was the game plan at the beginning of the race?
Paul :Be patient and take our time and let the people ahead of us make mistakes.
David:What was going through your mind at halfway?
Paul: I thought e  had a top 3 car. At the beginning of runs we had a great car but on the long runs it got a little too tight to hang with the top 2.
David: With ten to go what did you think your chances of winning were?
Paul: I thought I had a good shot at winning because I noticed Timmy Hill was loosing brakes and overdriving the car.
David: When you saw the 4 car get sideways on the last lap, what was going through your mind?
Paul: How am I going to get around him if he does spin out. Also, when he does spin should I go high or low to avoid him?
David: When you took the checkered flag, were you thinking win or points or both?
Paul:  I was thinking patience pays off in the long run along with what is the margin between first place, Timmy Hill, and us in second.
David: I noticed after the race you did something I have rarely heard you do. You thanked everyone for everything they did.
Paul: Yeah, Everybody puts in a lot of time into my racing and they also take their weekends to come help me out at the racetrack and that means a lot to me.
David: You've really matured from 4 years ago. Did you think you would be here then?
Paul: I thought I would have been here a lot sooner but I realized my attitude was getting me no where on and off the racetrack. I adjusted that and now I'm here.
David: You started with maybe 4 people and you've raced with people who moved up. How has this series and your team changed from when you started?
Paul:The series has always had plenty of good drivers. The top 6 cars were in contention to win every week. Our team has changed by how we work together now as to back when I started all the way up to last year, my attitude kept everyone from wanting to help me. Like I said, I got that straight and now we work together better.
David: When did you realize you needed to change your attitude?
Paul: When everybody basically said, "good luck, your on your own." Then I noticed I needed to change something in order to win and have people support me.
David: Was that the thing that changed from last year to the beginning of this year?
Paul: Of course, the team started getting along, we started talking good notes, worked hard week in and week out, and started running top 3 every week.
David: I noticed little things that changed. For example, if there was a little tear in the body, everyone would say, "whatever" cause it's a short track. Now they will fix it.
Paul: Exactly. Every little bit in racing counts. You don't look at the tire gauge and it says 23.8 then you say it's good. You put that extra 0.2 in it to be exact.
David: Precisely. So two-time winner, what's the next step for this team?
Paul: The next step is to work as hard as always and finish this season out with some more wins and a top 2 in points and we will go from there.
David: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Paul: I can't say. We will have to take one step at a time and see where the good lord takes us.
David: Thank you for your time and congratulations for your wins.
Paul: No problem man. Thanks again for all ya'lls support.

Q: You are currently having the greatest start to a season of your career. How do you expect to end up in the points and with how many wins?
A:  I believe that if we can keep our momentum and we don't have any bobbles that we will finish with a strong top three in the points and a couple, if not more, wins.

Q: W
ith everyone on even ground because no one has raced at Rockingham Raceway Park, how will you do?
A:
"I think it will be an even and exciting race, as long as we get the chance go to the practice a week before the race."

Q:
H
ow do you feel being able to race right next door to the famed "Rock?"
A:
"It will be a great opportunity to meet new people. I can't believe I will be racing at the same complex as the greats like the Pettys, the Earnhardts, and the Allisons."

Q: Going into your 3rd year in Allison Legacy series, do you feel like a veteran?
A: Yes because I been here a while and know most things.

Q: What is the next series you want to move into?
A: UARA late models or Hooters Pro Cup.
